Town Supervisor
The Town Supervisor oversees town operations, budget management, and policy implementation. They act as the head of the Town Board, ensuring that town services run smoothly and efficiently. The Supervisor represents the Town of Wolcott as a member of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors.
Town Clerk & Tax Collector
The Town Clerk is responsible for maintaining legal documents, files, and forms, serving as the custodian of vital records. The Clerk ensures access to important town documents and records for residents and government officials. The office issues marriage licenses, birth and death certificates, dog licenses, hunting and fishing licenses, handicapped parking permits, and certificates of residency. The Town Clerk collects town and county taxes from January to March. They also offer notary services for town residents.
The Town & County Taxes are collected from January 1st – March 31st each year. After March 31st and unpaid taxes get returned to the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office in Lyons, NY.

Assessment
The Assessor is responsible for determining the value of real property within the town, which is used to compute property tax bills. This includes assessing homes, businesses, and land to ensure fair and accurate taxation. Assessors must be certified by New York State and undergo ongoing training to maintain current knowledge. They also manage property tax exemptions, such as the STAR program for homeowners, and keep detailed records of property assessments, ensuring consistency and uniformity across the town.
The Board of Assessment Review will meet on May 27th, 2025, between the hours of 4pm & 8pm at the Wolcott Town Hall to hear and examine all complaints in relationship to assessments on the application of any person believing themselves to be aggrieved.

Code Enforcement
The Code Enforcement Officer ensures compliance with New York State Building Codes as well as local housing, building, and zoning regulations. This includes inspecting properties, issuing permits, and addressing violations to maintain safety and proper development standards.

Courts
The Town Courts provide a wide range of legal services to the Town of Wolcott, assisting its legislative body and departments with judicial matters. They handle cases involving local violations, traffic infractions, small claims, and other legal disputes. The courts ensure that justice is served fairly while upholding local and state laws. The Town Justices preside over cases and work closely with town officials and residents to resolve legal issues.

Highway
The Highway Department is responsible for maintaining 48.7 miles of town roads and also contracts with Wayne County to plow and maintain 27 miles of county roads during winter. In addition to road care, the department oversees five abandoned cemeteries: Park Cemetery, Joiner Cemetery, Wheeler Cemetery, Harnden Cemetery, McArthur/Carter Cemetery, and Blind Sodus Cemetery. The department ensures safe, navigable roads year-round and manages the upkeep of these historical sites to preserve them for the community.
